M-M-M-M-M! Fresh Strawberries!

For the past couple of weeks, I've been buying fresh strawberries at my local Publix. They have been SUPER! As I was cutting them up, I couldn't help myself and kept eating them! And all of them were succulent!

There's No Fool Like an Old Fool!

On Saturday night I went over to Tampa to a friend's house for a political fundraiser. I figure it was a good way to meet people and make new friends. It was a nice time. Wine, cheese, fruit, small snacks, (food? I'm there!) A small backyard fire pit and a drum circle. Almost a full moon, and beautiful weather.

I'm not all familiar with some parts of Tampa, but thanks to google, i made it! The trip back over the Gandy Bridge was nice, cool breeze thru my hair. (He he he).

Sunday was a relaxing day. I could hear the roar of the Grand Prix autos coming from downtown St. Pete. But Sunday afternoon we had a torrential downpour. And throughout the night a lot of rolling thunder. When I got in my car this morning, I was surprised to find the entire inside all wet! Then I noticed that my door windows on both sides were down about 3 inches. Thoughts of my grandfather saying, "There's no fool like an old fool!" Luckily, today got sunny and very breezy. I've left the windows down and it's been drying out nicely. The downside? All the crap from the trees messing it all up!

The Beach is Back

I had today off. The weather is warming up (finally!!!) and is to hit 75 today. I figured it would be a good time to hit the beach. I went for a couple of hours midday. I'm appalled at how much more the beach erodes every time I go back. That mound of grass in the middle of the first picture, hanging over the "cliff" used to be on a gentle slope down to the water. Pretty soon they may have to change the name from Sunset Beach to Sunset Ledge!

Looking South, the erosion seems to be going further down the beach.

Dinner and a Movie

Went to the Outings & Adventures Dinner and a Movie outing tonight. Dinner was at the Primi Urban Cafe in downtown St. Pete. The movie was "Murder in Fashion", about the murder of Johnny Versace. Dinner was excellent. I did not care for the movie. All I could think about was Maya Rudolph playing Donatella Versace!

Busy Weekend

Friday night our group from work went to the Green Iguana near Bay Pines to send Michelle off. She's leaving us at the St Pete Branch to be the new assistant manager at the Largo branch. There was a little mix up with our reservations and we had to wait a bit, but the food was decent.

On Saturday night I went to a dinner party at Terry's and Rod's. There were 7 of us, all but one were in Suncoast Squares. The meal was delicious! I was hoping to have some pics to post, but I don't have them yet and will post when I get them.

Sunday afternoon Janet came to visit. Janet and I worked together about 20 years ago. She's here in Florida for about ten days. We had a good time talking and going out for Chinese. We watched The Crimson Mask and then talked some more!
Joe was one of the cinematographers on the movie. It is having it's international premiere at the Marche du film at the Cannes Film Festival on May 17!

A Trip Down the Rabbit Hole

Yesterday was a beautiful sunny day. Naturally, I was scheduled to work all day. Today I had the afternoon off. Very windy, looked like it was going to storm all day, although warm and balmy. More typical of our winters. I was thinking of heading over to the beach, just to relax, listen to the waves, walk along the water. Instead, decided to spend the afternoon down underground. So, after having lunch, I headed down to BayWalk to see Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland. I went for the Imax 3D. I loved his treatment. He has such a creative vision. One downside to the movie, I thought, was the Shrek-like ending at the end of the Wonderland segment.

I loved the way the characters had such distorted body parts and figures. Crispin Glover especially looked weird! But what else? This is a Tim Burton movie!

Saturday Afternoon Walkabout

I had to work this morning, so I met up with Louie and Linda in mid afternoon. They had taken a walk over to the Saturday Morning Market earlier. We covered a lot of ground, walking around downtown, over to the Bay and up along the water's edge up to the beach.

We stopped for a meal break at 5 Guys. It was the Ls first time!

On the walk back over to the Bay, we walked thru the park and saw this wedding taking place. There's a new addition to this sand castle since the last time I saw it. And an older Tipi Hendren was feeding these gulls.

And, coming soon, the Honda Grand Prix, at the end of March!

The Ls are Back in Town!

Louie and Linda got into St. Pete tonight. I met them at their hotel and off we went to Valentino's on 4th Street N. My favorite! They will be here for a few days. They're going to a Yankees game tomorrow. I'll be catching up with them again on Saturday afternoon.

We had a nice time and got to talk at length with Dennis, the owner. Dennis is from Schenectady. Seems Lou and Linda have some mutual friends with Dennis! Small world!

March Morning in Vinoy Park

It was a beautiful day, the sun beat down. I had the radio on. I was drivin'. The trees went by, me and Del were singin' . . . wait, I got carried away. (I know, the waiting is the hardest part.)

Anywho, I have today off, so after having coffee and a wrap at Starbucks, I headed over to Vinoy Park to relax for a few. There was this sailboat race going on, very near to the Park. I raced home to get my camera, but when I got back the sailboats were down near the Pier.

Since I love palm trees so much, I decided to take some more (OH NO!) pictures of the view from my park bench. (YIKES! Have I become an old man sitting on a park bench? Just call me "Tyrone F. Horneigh" I do keep looking for Gladys Ormphby.)

Coming soon!
